We’d Like to Congratulate the 2010 Summit County Farm Bureau Scholarship Winners:
Jill Brownfield is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Brownfield of Akron. She is a recent graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and is pursuing her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Jill’s objective is to have her own physical therapy practice and give back to the community.
Jill’s honors and activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, Honor Roll, Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, Jr. Statesman of America, the Peer Minister at St Vincent-St. Mary, as well as committing to over 250 hours of community service and receiving multiple academic excellence and citizenship awards.
Kayla Davis is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Davis of Barberton. She graduated from Manchester High School and is planning to attend the Ohio State University/ATI in Wooster, where she will major in Livestock Science. Her goal is to become a veterinarian.
Kayla’s honors and activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Congress Lands Pony Club, a 4 year academic award winner, and other community efforts. She also lettered in track, cross-country, and drama club.
Sarah Hartong is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Hartong. She graduated from Green High School and is attending the University of Akron. Sarah’s field of study is music performance and education. Her goal is to be a music educator in the school system and an orchestral musician.
Sarah’s honors and activities during high school included being a member of the National Honor Society, Honor roll, Academic Team, Green High Marching band, Pep Band, many flute and piccolo ensembles, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, Akron Youth Symphony, and Greensburg United Methodist Church Bell Choir. During her first year of college she has been in the Symphonic Band, the Flute Choir, and is a member of the University of Akron Marching Band.
William Suplit is the son of Mr. & Mrs. William L. Suplit. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School and is planning to attend Mid State Technical and the University of Wisconsin (Stevens Point). His intended field of study is Urban Forestry.
William’s honors and activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, the Expedition Academy (college level curriculum with outdoor skills and community service), Choir & Key Club, The Chapel in Akron, a part of the Urban Forestry Landscape Horticulture Career Technical Program, and especially being a heavily involved member of the Boy Scouts of America. As a Boy Scout, William was a senior Patrol Leader and Chaplain’s Aide, took part in many backpacking excursions, and worked on many community projects through his church and the Boy Scouts of America. He also received the Order of the Arrow – National Honor Society for Boy Scout of America and Arrow of Light – highest award in Cub Scouts.
Chirstopher Vogt is the son of Mr. & Mrs. James C. Vogt. He recently graduated from Archbishop Hoban and is planning to attend Ashland University. His intended field of study is political science and his goal is to become an attorney.
Christopher’s honors and activities include receiving academic/scholastic awards, participating in Hoban sports – football, track, and cross-country, being heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America from 1998-2009, achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout, and being involved in several community services, including the Catholic Youth Organization, Youth Enrichment Program, Camp SumFun (disabled children) and Sunrise Assisted Living.
