Rebecca Jarvis is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Jarvis of Akron. Rebecca graduated from Revere High School and is planning to become an astrophysical researcher and professor. She plans to serve as a math or science educator in the Peace Corps. After graduate school Rebecca hopes to research in an area like stellar evolution or dynamics, but wants to remain in an academic setting so she can pass on current knowledge to the next generation.
Rebecca’s honors and activities during high school include being a National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, 2014 Academic Departmental Awards in AP Chemistry, AP Latin, AP US History, Honors English, and Honors Precalculus.
She is also a three-year varsity team captain in the Academic Challenge, Marketing Captain in FIRST Robotics, President of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, a National Member of Piano Guild Preparatory Class in the National Federation of Student Musicians, five-time Ohio state medalist in the Science Olympiad and a District qualifier in pole vault in Track and Field.
Rebecca volunteers for the Akron-Summit County Library, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, Hale Farm & Village, National Science & Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP), and donated 20 handmade fleece blankets to Project Linus. Rebecca has also grown up on her family’s farm, Sunset Lake Farm, where she is in charge of harvesting much of the farms produce, transporting it, and selling it at the Richfield and Wadsworth farmers’ markets.
Natalie Menke is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bryan Menke of Stow. Natalie graduated from Stow-Munroe Falls High School and is planning to attend Hiram College or Mount Union, where she will major in Pre-medicine and minor in Spanish. Natalie’s occupational objective is to become a doctor and eventually help people in third world countries.
Natalie’s honors and activities during high school include being a Squad Leader in Band (marching, jazz, and concert), Captain of Varsity Bowling, and countless school and community activities. She received the Venturing Leadership award, and Merit and Honor Roll all four years. Natalie has also been an active member of the Summit County 4-H where she is the Secretary and President of the Equestrian Challenge, the Secretary of JZ’s Wildbunch, Secretary and Vice President of the Jr. Fairboard, and received the Summit County 4-Her of the year award.
Alyssa Katz is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Randy Katz of Copley. Alyssa graduated from Copley High School in 2014 and is currently attending Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, where she is studying culinary arts. Alyssa’s occupational objective is become a registered dietitian and chef. She wants to combat the obesity rate in a delicious way, using locally grown agriculture.
Alyssa’s honors and activities include being President and Treasurer of the Copley Key Club, Treasurer of the Marching Band, newspaper editor, religious coordinator of BBYO (Jewish Youth Group), and is involved in the Environmental Club, Baking and Pastry Club, Circle K, and Nutrition Society. She volunteers her time in Farm Bureau and her community including Summit’s Plow to Chow, and Farmer’s Share Breakfast and has also received the Johnson & Wales Presidential Scholarship, as well as the Key Club Scholarship
Isabella Steiner is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jonathon Steiner of Hartville. Isabella graduated from Marlington High School in 2013 and is currently attending Ashland University. Her intended field of study is Biology/Pre-Vet. Isabella’s occupational objective is to become a large and small animal veterinarian.
Isabella’s honors and activities include being the Philanthropy Chairman of the Theta Phi Alpha Fraternity, Spanish Club Member, Choose Ohio First Scholar, Honors Program and Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society. Isabella is on the Dean’s List at Ashland University and was the Theta Phi Alpha – New Member of the Year in 2014.
Rachel Borton is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Borton of New Franklin. Rachel graduated from Norton High School and is planning to attend Kent State University or Malone University, where she plans to major in Early Childhood Education. Rachel’s occupational objective is to become an elementary school teacher.
Rachel’s honors and activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, President and Vice President of the Caballeros 4-H club, and Vice President of the Summit County Junior Leaders in 2014. She also participates in the Summit County Shooting Sports and the Community Church of Portage Lakes Youth Group.
