The Summit County Farm Bureau is hosting its 3rd Annual Farmer’s Share Breakfast on Saturday, April 2, 2011.
This popular event is in honor of the many farmers who provide safe, abundant & affordable food throughout the United States. The 2011 Farmer’s Share Breakfast will be held from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at Spring Garden Waldorf School, located at 1791 Jacoby Road in Copley.
Scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes with maple syrup, milk and coffee will be served for the low price of just 75¢ per person. (This price represents the average amount farmers receive as compensation for producing a comparable amount of food).
In addition to the breakfast, the Summit County Farm Bureau has also planned the following activities:

Vegetable Gardening: From the Garden to the Table
Presented by Master Gardener & OSU-ATI graduate, Jan Becker
Times: 9 am & 10 am
An avid gardener who specializes in backyard and local foods, Jan is the voice of experience as she shares her hands-on knowledge of vegetable gardening. During these information-packed presentations, Jan will cover what to plant, where to plant, as well as how to grow and harvest different types of vegetables. She’ll share a few of her favorite recipes, as well.
These presentations are sure to provide helpful tips for everyone from 1st time growers to more experienced gardeners.
Canned Food Drive. Bring a canned good donation and receive a raffle ticket to win a container of ice cream from Smith’s Dairy – every month for a year!
Maple Sap Harvest & Syrup Making – weather permitting
Summit County Farm Bureau Mobile Learning Laboratory – Fun and educational activities for children
Displays by Local 4-H Groups & OSU Extension Service
