We’re pleased to announce the 2012 – 2013 Summit County Farm Bureau Academic Scholarship recipients. Please join us in congratulating our winners:
Blake Arnold is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Arnold of Copley. A graduate of Copley High School, Blake is planning to attend Ohio University where his intended field of study is Chemistry/Business. Blake’s occupational objective is to be a restaurant/brewery owner/farmer to represent locally grown produce items.
Blake’s honors and activities include: CHS Man of the Year, the 2011 Leadership Award, the Copley cross country team, track and field, Boy Scouts – Eagle Scout 2011, and scholar athlete 2008-2010.
Kevin Arnold is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Tom Arnold of Copley. Kevin graduated from Copley High School and is planning to attend the University of Akron, where he will major in environmental science. Kevin is interested in wildlife, fisheries, water management and becoming a park ranger.
Kevin’s honors and activities include: National Honor Society 2010-2012, Honors Diploma, Academic Letter, Academic Athlete Award 2009-2011, CHS Soccer Team 2009-2011, CHS Baseball Team 2009, Key Club, and Church Youth group. He was also the young farmer representative for Summit County Farm Bureau at Ag Day at the Capital in 2011 and 2012.
Peter DelMedico is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy DelMedico. Peter is currently attending Miami University, where he is studying business/entrepreneurship. His goal is to obtain an advanced business degree (MBA) and use it to work in an agricultural setting.
Peter’s honors and activities at Archbishop Hoban include: Ohio Math League, Biology Club, Italian Club, staff reporter and sports editor for the school newspaper, and Honor Roll, grades 9-12. He was also very active in varsity soccer, lacrosse and basketball. At Miami University he is involved in the MU entrepreneurship program, and is a member of Green Oxford (an environmental organization) and Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
Taylor Graf is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Scott Graf of Akron. Taylor graduated from Copley High School and is planning to attend Ohio University, where he intends to study business. Taylor’s occupational objective is to own his own business.
Taylor’s honors and activities include: the Copley High School Soccer Team, (received 2011 Academic Athlete Honor), boy’s soccer (Lettered, Most Valuable Player), High School Band (marching and concert) and Key Club.
Abigail Hawk is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Hawk of Akron. She graduated from Green High School and is planning to attend Kent State University. Abby’s intended field of study is the medical field. Her occupational objective is to become a nurse.
Abigail’s honors and activities include: Suburban League Scholar Athlete award, Suburban League Honorable mention, tennis, lacrosse, band, Chain Reaction student group, and Spanish Club. She is also actively involved in her church and has made several church missions trips.
Matthew McCans is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Tim McCans of Akron. Matt graduated from Firestone High School and will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he plans to study accounting. His occupational objective is to go into forensic accounting.
Matthew’s honors and activities include: National Honor Society, French Club, Buckeye Boys State (Treasurer and delegate for Suhr City at Boys’ State), Academic Challenge, All Academic/1st All City Golf (Most Improved Player). He has won many awards in golf and baseball and has worked with disabled children.
