Summit County Farm Bureau is continuing the trek into the 21st century – a world dominated by social media – with the introduction of our own YouTube channel. Although we are still fine-tuning this channel – we want to give you a “sneak peak” at some of the great videos we’ve compiled.
While we continue to “snail mail” our newsletters, educational seminar postcards, event invitations, and any other pertinent information, we have been posting much of the information on our website and facebook page, as well.
Our website, developed in 2010 and updated earlier this year to make it mobile responsive for smartphones and tablets, was designed to share information more frequently than our bi-annual paper newsletter. Our Facebook page was added later that same year.
In 2011, your board decided to try to capture some history from our most senior members and a videotaping project was born. The Hartongs, The Hawks, and The Calls were interviewed and asked to reflect on their lives as farmers. With the aging of our founders of the Summit County Farm Bureau Antique Museum, Jean and Charlie Call, we also gathered some “history” to accompany some of the exhibits in the museum, including the hat shop, the one room school, the coal mine, and the country store.
OK, we’ve gathered all this wonderful historical information, now how do we share it with you?
A lightbulb moment… why not set up our very own YouTube channel?!
