Did you know June is National Perennial Garden Month?
June is also National Dairy Month… and June is the beginning of “hay season.” (So PLEASE drive carefully when you come upon a pickup or wagon stacked full of hay – it is almost impossible for the driver to see around his load OR for you to see that he may be making a left-hand turn!)
June is also the time to get busy in those gardens… here is our June Garden Action List:
– start harvesting strawberries
– check pepper and tomato plants for cutworms
– trim spring flowering plants as they finish up blooming
– trim and de-sucker intermediate tomatoes
– watch for potato beetles and hand harvest them for organic control
– use Neem Oil for insect control on vegetable plants and herbs
– check out our “buy local” article for a list of the local farm markets, many open this month
– AND don’t forget Farm Bureau Night at the Ball Park, where you and your family can enjoy an evening with the Rubber Ducks!
