The Summit County Farm Bureau’s 10th Annual Farmers’ Share Breakfast will be held on Saturday, March 10th at Copley High School, 3807 Ridgewood Road in Copley. A breakfast of pancakes (with local maple syrup), sausage, scrambled eggs, milk and coffee will be served 8-11 AM at the minimal cost of $1.00, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. This program allows us to provide a good wholesome meal while educating about the importance of the farmer’s role in our daily lives, as well as illustrating the “farmers’ share” of the meal.
SCFB will also be holding a canned food drive: canned good donors will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to WIN a container of Smith Dairy ice cream every month for a year. The canned or packaged food will be donated to The Salvation Army.
The Annual Farmers Share Breakfast is an opportunity for SCFB to promote agriculture through education and involvement, serving as the voice of agriculture in Summit County. Attendees can enjoy videos of local farmers; The Hartongs, The Hawks, and The Calls who were interviewed and asked to reflect on their lives as farmers.
Soil Super Heroes coloring books will be passed out to the children. Both children and adults will be encouraged to participate in a project, make a flower pot and plant a pea seed to take home and watch grow. Adults will be encouraged to attend one of the two (2) free educational seminars on Backyard Poultry at 8:30 AM or 10:00 AM. Local 4-H groups, the Summit County Bee Keepers Assoc., Nationwide Agents, as well as the Farm Bureau and other agricultural interests will have tables and booths chock full of agriculture information on display for visitors to examine.
The SCFB Board of Trustees would like to invite you to join us and give us the opportunity to feed your stomachs and your minds, at the same time.
