The Winery at Wolf Creek was founded in 1980 by Andew Wineberg on his parents’ (Melvin and Harriet) property. It was initially a 10 acre vineyard with another two acres planted on the hill just south of the winery. The cellar was blasted into the hillside where the winery is currently located in 1984. The original tasting room was located at the back of the cellar (now their office). The bar was made of two barrels with a picnic table providing the only seating. Their first bottle of wine was sold in June of 1985. The winery continued to grow until the loss of Andrew Wineberg in 2000. Andy and Deanna Troutman purchased the property in 2002 and expanded production and acreage and still make most of the wine in the original cellar, along with their brand new cellar located under the Great Room.
The Winery is a family-friendly winery with a variety of outdoor activities, depending on the season. Along with wine, they offer a variety of salty snacks, chocolates, and local meats and cheeses for your enjoyment. There is a variety of board games, corn hole, and other yard games available for guests…you can also bring your own. Meet, feed, and take your picture with the resident, “celebrity” 4-H goats, bring your furry friend to Yappy Hour Events on Tuesdays outside on the patio. They have a range of musical and other events going on all the time. There are picnic tables, green spaces, and you can take a hike down to the Barberton reservoir as well.
