Happy New Year Summit County! I can’t believe that it’s the New Year already. I’m not
sure where 2023 even went. Early mornings, long days, and late nights is the common
theme for any farmer around the world and we just hope that at the end of every season
it has been a prosperous one.
This season has been another interesting one, like most. Decent Spring, good plating
conditions, then three weeks without rain, smoke from the fires up north, wet cool
August, and even a wetter fall prolonging harvest for most farmers in the state including
the one writing to you. Patience is one thing I’ve learned you need in this lifestyle, a lot
of patience.
With winter time here, it’s time to reflect on the past and tweak the future for farming.
So, if you’re looking to get out of the house and see some familiar faces, check out our
website and see what upcoming events and seminars we have in store. We had our
annual meeting at the end of September, with many great people and county
representatives in attendance.
One in particular was Paula Mularcik, our 2023 Distinguished Service Award Recipient!
An OSU graduate and Copley resident, Paula has been an advocate for agriculture and
a huge help in many events SCFB has had to offer over the years. Thank You Paula,
and family.
Another person we would like to recognize is Roger Baker, who has served as our
OFBF District 8 State Trustee for the last 12 years. Representing Summit, Ashland,
Medina and Wayne counties, Roger has been a great trustee and advocate for
agriculture in our district. Always advising and keeping our counties up to date on
issues facing agriculture in our county as well as the state. Thank You Roger!
Well, with another year in the books, we at Summit County Farm Bureau wish all of you
in Summit County a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Yours Truly,
Tim Luther
