What’s in a Soil Test and Why is it so Important?
Presented by Tom Dayton, owner of Dayton Nursery
March 26th @11AM-1PM
While some plants prefer higher pHs, most plants prefer a PH of 6.8, others such as asparagus thrive at 7.5. Ericaceous plants, or acid loving plants) prefer 4.5 to about a pH of 6 so they can utilize the iron locked up in the soil. A university soil test from Penn State University is best as it measures the lime test index that is the buffer capacity of the soil’s resistant to change. In Ohio, with the advent of the retreating glaciers years ago, soils can very wildly as to what their needs are as have as lime is concerned.
