Our scholarship namesake, Bob Eckart, was a farmer and lifelong resident of Copley, Ohio, who supported the area’s agricultural community by serving as Secretary of the Summit County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees. In that role, which spanned “too many years to count,” he became known for the meticulously detailed handwritten minutes he would record during each meeting. In addition to his role as a farmer and an active member of the SCFB, Bob also drove a school bus for the Copley Public Schools for many years. His involvement with his charges went beyond safely delivering them to their intended destination each school day. He also hired many of these students to work on his farm after school hours and during summer vacations. There, he was a patient educator intent on teaching those who wanted to learn what he knew about farming, working the land, and animal husbandry. Not surprisingly, when Bob passed away, former students lined up outside the funeral home to pay their respects to the man who had been both their friend and their teacher.
Not long after his passing, the SCFB Board of Trustees voted to create an academic scholarship program in honor of Bob’s memory. Below are the individuals selected as our Robert H. Eckert Memorial Academic Scholarship recipients, this year
Awarded the Robert Eckart Memorial Scholarship (renewable for 3 additional years):
Nolan Luther, a 3.84 senior at Revere High School lives in Richfield where he has grown up on the family farm, working at the farm market every summer and fall. The son of Scott & Rachel Luther, he is very active; Cross Country Team, Indoor Track Team, Track Team, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Recycling Club, and the Richfield United Church of Christ Youth Group. Nolan has volunteered at the Akron-Canton Food Bank with the Richfield UCC Youth Group. He has been awarded Suburban League Scholar Athlete, Honor Roll, Merit Roll and was on the Suburban League Second Team Cross Country. Nolan plans to attend Ohio Northern University, seeking a degree in Mechanical Engineering to be able to continue making unique machines and gadgets like his grandpa has built around the farm.

Karli Czartoszewski, daughter of Katherine and Daniel Czartoszewski, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwest High School in May 2002 and completed her Associates Degree from Stark State College Summer 2024. She has grown up on a deer farming operations, taking care of the fawns and small chores around the farm. Over the last few years they have expanded to growing sweet corn, pumpkins and sunflowers which she helps pick and sell. When she is not attending classes or working on the farm, Karli teaches dance at the Ohio Conservatory of Ballet and volunteers with the Northwest Wrestling program. She is attending Kent State University completing her degree in Middle School Education, hoping to teach 4 th and 5 th grade.
Carter Daly, son of Bob and Tammy Daly, graduated from Green High School in May 2023 with a 3.654 gpa. He was VERY active in High School; Key Club, Varsity Lacrosse, Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Soccer and received many honors; 4 th place in Laws of Life Essay, Bronze Award in Laws of Life Essay, Academy of Scholars and National Society of High School Scholars. He is currently attending Kent State University in Construction Management. He has interned at Michels Power where he worked on projects that support Agrivoltaics, as well as at RiverReach Construction where he worked on projects helping farmers address erosion control, stream restoration and soil stabilization.
